The Sea and Dry Ground Owned and Made by God – Psalms 95:5

In Psalms ninety-five the Psalmist said, “the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also”, and in chapter ninety-five and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the sea is his, and he made it” where we read,

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

The verse begins, “The sea is his, and he made it:” The Psalmist began with the words, “the sea is his” or “the large bodies of water such as the Red, Dead or Mediterranean Seas exist as Jehovah God’s”, “and he made it” which means “and he, Jehovah God, fashioned, accomplished, produced and prepared the sea”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God not only owns the “sea”, but He created it as well.

The verse continues, “and his hands formed the dry land.” The Psalmist added the words, “and his hands” or “and his, Jehovah God’s, hands of power, might and strength” “formed the dry land” which means “fashioned, framed and created the dry ground”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God created the ground within the earth.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist proclaimed Jehovah God to be the owner of the “sea” and “dry ground” because He made them. God created the world and everything and everyone within it, and He owns and possesses it all. His desire is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to know “the earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (See Psalms 24:1)
