In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist shared about, “They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters. These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse twenty-eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “they cry unto the LORD in their trouble” where we read,
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distresses.
The verse begins, “Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, …” The Psalmist began with the words, “then they cry” or “at that time, wherefore, therefore and on this account they, the people in their sailing vessels on the sea, shout aloud, clamor and shriek for help ” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in their trouble” or “within their, (the people in the sailing vessels on the sea’s), straits, distress and adversity”. The Psalmist said the people in the sailing vessels on the sea shout aloud unto Jehovah God when they were in great distress and adversity.
The verse goes on to say, “… and he brings them out of their distresses.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and he brings them out” which means “and he, Jehovah God, carries, delivers and liberates them, the people sailing in their vessels on the sea, from out” “of their distresses” or “of their, the people in the sailing vessels on the sea’s, anguish, stress and trouble”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God carries the people on the sea out of their stress and trouble.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God rescues the people in their sailing vessels upon the sea. They endured the tempestuous winds and waves, but God overcame both of them. He desires a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and deliver us from the troublesome winds and waves that come into our lives.
Next time the Psalmist said, “He makes the storm a calm”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
