The Righteous See It and Rejoice – Psalms 107:42

In Psalms one hundred seven the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “pours contempt upon princes, and causes them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. Yet sets he the poor on high from affliction, and makes him families like a flock”, and in chapter one hundred seven and verse forty-two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the righteous shall see it, and rejoice” where we read,

The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

The verse begins, The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: The Psalmist began with the words, “the righteous shall see it” or “the people who are straight, upright, correct, pleasing, fitting and proper will observe, notice, discern and discover the deliverance of the poor ”, “and rejoice” which means “and be glad, exult, cheer up and exist as merry”. The Psalmist said people who are upright and pleasing to Jehovah God will observe His rescue of the poor and be cheerful and merry.

The verse continues, “and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.” The Psalmist added the words, “and all iniquity” or “and the whole and totality of injustice, unrighteousness and wrong” “shall stop her mouth” which means “will shut, draw together and stop the unjust’s orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking”. The Psalmist said the total amount of evil and unrighteousness will stop speaking because of Jehovah God’s care for the poor and needy.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist took note of the response of people who are upright, correct and merry over Jehovah God’s care for the oppressed and abused. Those who speak wickedly and unjustly will be quieted when they observe Jehovah God rescuing those who suffer affliction. God loves people, and He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. He rescues us when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, and our sins will be forgiven, we shall inherit eternal life and we shall be cleansed from all unrighteousness. Let us rejoice with those who are rescued by Jehovah God and commit ourselves to never be a part of those who need their mouths to be stopped because they oppress those who are afflicted with their words.

Next time the Psalmist says, “whoso is wise, and will observe these things”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
