In Psalms one hundred twelve the Psalmist said, “Praise you the LORD. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, that delights greatly in his commandments”, and in chapter one hundred twelve and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “His seed shall be mighty upon earth” where we read,
His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
The verse begins, “His seed shall be mighty upon earth:” The Psalmist began with the words, “His seed” or “His, the person who fears the LORD and delights greatly in his commandments’, children, posterity, descendants and progeny” “shall be mighty” which means “will exist as powerful, strong and filled with ability” “upon earth” or “on the land, country, territory, region and world”. The Psalmist said the descendants of the people who revere Jehovah God and take pleasure in His ordinances will exist as powerful and strong in the world.
The verse continues, “the generation of the upright shall be blessed.” The Psalmist added the words, “the generation” or “the period and age” “of the upright” which means “belonging to the straight, correct, level, pleasing, fitting and proper” “shall be blessed” or “will exist as adored, saluted and praised”. The Psalmist said the age of people who live in a correct and pleasing manner to Jehovah God will be praised and adored.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist expanded the number of people who will be “mighty” and “blessed” by Jehovah God. The descendants of the people who revere God and “delight greatly in his commandments” will also be “O so happy” as they live. God’s desire is for everyone to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus whom He sent in to the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to become the “mighty and blessed” people in the world.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Wealth and riches shall be in his house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
