Blessed be the Name of the LORD – Psalms 113:2

In Psalms one hundred thirteen the Psalmist said, “Praise you the LORD. Praise, O you servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred thirteen and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Blessed be the name of the LORD” where we read,

Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.

The verse begins, Blessed be the name of the LORD” The Psalmist began with the words, “blessed be the name” or “O how happy exists the fame, reputation and glory” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God is “O how happy”.

The verse continues, “… from this time forth and for evermore.” The Psalmist added the words, “from this time forth” or “now, henceforth, straightway and at this time” “and for evermore” which means “and until and even to long duration, futurity, everlasting, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist declared the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God to exist as O how happy from the current time until perpetuity and everlasting.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God’s name is consistently “O how happy” from the current time and until forever. God does not change, and He is continually the same. (See Malachi 3:6) He was, is and will be the eternal God who loves people and demonstrated His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity to enjoy His “O how happy” “name” for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD’S name is to be praised”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
