God Rebuked the Red Sea – Psalms 106:9

In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist said, “Our fathers understood not your wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of your mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “rebuked the Red sea also” where we read,

He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up:

so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

The verse begins, He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: The Psalmist began with the words, “He rebuked the Red sea also” or “He, Jehovah God, reproved, chided and reprehended the large body of water known as the Red sea even so and indeed”, “and it was dried up” which means “and the Red sea existed as wasted and desolate”. (See Exodus 14:21-22, 27-29) The Psalmist referred to when Jehovah God spoke to the “Red sea” and the waters abated and the ground was dry beneath the people of Israel.

The verse continues,so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. The Psalmist added the words, “so he led them” or “therefore he, Jehovah God, guided and directed them, the people of Israel” “through the depths” which means “by way of the abyss, deep places and bottom of the sea”, “as through the wilderness” or “in likeness by way of the uninhabited land and desert place”. The Psalmist referred to how Jehovah God guided the people of Israel across and along the deep places of the Red sea in likeness to leading them through the desert place.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist mentioned the time when Jehovah God spoke to the “Red sea” and the waters abated and the ground beneath them became dry ground. God guided the people of Israel along the path of the dry ground of the sea like He led them through the desert area. God loves the people of Israel, and He has provided for them even when they forsook and provoked Him. God loves us too, and He made the way of salvation for our souls through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us through difficult places where He has cleared the path before us according to His Divine purposes and plan.

Next time Psalmist says Jehovah God, “saved them from the hand of him that hated them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
