Hold Not Your Peace God – Psalms 109:1

Psalms one hundred nine begins with the phrase, “[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]]” which breaks down, “to the chief musician” or “to the preeminent overseer, superintendent or director of music or a choir”, “A Psalm” which means “a melody or poem set to notes” “of David” or “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter one hundred nine and verse one of Psalms David said, “Hold not your peace, O God” where we read,

Hold not your peace, O God of my praise;

The verse begins, Hold not your peace, … David began with the words, “hold not” or “do not in any way or manner be dumb, silent and speechless concerning” “your peace” which means “your, Jehovah God’s, quiet and silence of tongue”. David appealed to Jehovah God not to be silent and quiet.

The verse goes on to say, “… O God of my praise;” David continued with the words, “O God” or “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “of my praise” which means “belonging to my, David’s, song, adoration, thanksgiving, laudation and glory”. David called upon his “Divine judge Jehovah God” whom he considered to be his adoration, thanksgiving and glory.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted the Divine judge Jehovah God not to be quiet because he considered God to be his glory and thanksgiving. David depended upon God, and because there was no one greater in whom to turn, David appealed to God. God loved David, and he loves us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and speak to us through His Holy Spirit according to His perfect purpose and plan.

Next time David says, “the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
