When People are Gathered Together – Psalms 102:22

In Psalms one hundred and two the Psalmist said, “This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD. For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth. To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death. To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem”, and in chapter one hundred two and verse twenty-two of Psalms the Psalmist referred to the time, “when the people are gathered together” where we read,

When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

The verse begins, When the people are gathered together, … The Psalmist began with the words, “when the people” or “at the time and moment the human beings both male and female” “are gathered together” which means “are collected and assembled with one another”. The Psalmist referred to the time that all the “people” are assembled with one another and the following occurs.

The verse goes on to say,… and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and the kingdoms” or “and the dominions, sovereignties and royal realms”, “to serve the LORD” which means “to work, serve as subjects and labor for Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist included the dominions and royal realms along with the people who would both work and serve as laborers for Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist presented the idea that people and dominions would be assembled together “to serve” Jehovah God. There will be a time when all people who have given their hearts and lives to God’s Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” will serve and labor for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords – Jesus Christ. God, who sent Jesus into the world to die for our sins, will bring us into His employ in His Royal Kingdom, and we shall serve Him in righteousness and peace forever and ever. God loves us, and when we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and bring us together to worship and serve Him eternally.

Next time the Psalmist says, “he weakened my strength in the way”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
