Seeing the Good of God’s Chosen – Psalms 106:5

In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist said, “Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that does righteousness at all times. Remember me, O LORD, with the favor that you bear unto your people: O visit me with your salvation”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “that I may see the good of your chosen” where we read,

That I may see the good of your chosen,

that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.

The verse begins, That I may see the good of your chosen, … The Psalmist began with the words, “that I may see” or “so I, the Psalmist, might observe, behold, notice and discern” “the good of your chosen” which means “the pleasantness, agreeableness and excellence of your, Jehovah God’s, selected and elected ones”. The Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to “remember” him so that he would behold the pleasantness and excellence of His elected ones.

The verse continues,… that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance. The Psalmist added the words, “that I may rejoice” or “so I, the Psalmist, might be glad, gleeful and joyful” “in the gladness” which means “within the joy, mirth, gaiety, pleasure and happy result” “of your nation” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God’s, people or the descendants of Abraham”, “that I may glory” which means “so I, the Psalmist, might shine, praise, be boastful and flash forth light” “with your inheritance” or “by the use of your, Jehovah God’s, possession, property, heritage, portion and share”. The Psalmist said he desired to be joyful in the pleasure and happy state of Jehovah God’s people, and that he might shine forth and be boastful within Jehovah God’s possession, portion and share.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist desired to observe the excellence of Jehovah God’s elected ones, so he could have joy within the pleasure of God’s people. He wanted to shine forth praise by the use of Jehovah God’s heritage and portion, and those who yield their lives to His Son Jesus will obtain the same. God loves people, and His desire is to have an intimate relationship with us. However, sin separates us from God. This is why God’s Son Jesus was sent into the world. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead three days later, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to rejoice along with His people for the honor and portion of what belongs to Him.

Next time Psalmist says, “we have sinned with our fathers”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
