In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said Jehovah God delivered the people of Israel from Egypt, and He, “remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant. And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse forty-four of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “gave them the lands of the heathen” where we read,
And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labor of the people;
The verse begins, “And gave them the lands of the heathen:” The Psalmist began with the words, “and gave them” or “and granted, bestowed, ascribed and dedicated to them, the people of Israel” “the lands” which means “the country, territory and regions” “of the heathen” or “belonging to the foreign, non-Hebrew and Gentile nations”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God provided the country and territory of non-Hebrew and pagan Gentile nations to the nation of Israel.
The verse continues, “and they inherited the labor of the people;” The Psalmist added the words, “and they inherited the labor” or “and they, the people of Israel, seized, dispossessed and consumed the work, toil and travail” “of the people” which means “belonging to the human beings both male and female who belonged to the foreign, non-Hebrew and Gentile nations”. The Psalmist said the people of Israel seized upon the work and toil of the foreign and non-Hebrew nations which God provided to them.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God gave Israel the country and region which was previously occupied by non-Hebrew people. God took care of His people Israel, and He desires to care for us as well. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to receive the work of others as our blessing for following and receiving Him.
Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God gave them the lands of the heathen, “that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
