He that Works Deceit – Psalms 101:7

In Psalms one hundred and one David said, “My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walks in a perfect way, he shall serve me”, and in chapter one hundred one and verse seven of Psalms David shared about, “he that works deceit” where we read,

He that works deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that tells lies shall not tarry in my sight.

The verse begins, He that works deceit shall not dwell within my house: David began with the words, “he that works deceit” or “he, the person whether male or female who fashions, accomplishes and produces laxness, slackness, treachery, guile or slothful behavior” “shall not dwell” which means “will in no way or manner live, abide or be an inhabitant” “within my house” or “in my, David’s, dwelling place, abode, shelter or habitation”. David said the person who produces treachery, guile and slothful behavior would in no way abide in his dwelling place.

The verse continues,he that tells lies shall not tarry in my sight. David added the words, “he that tells lies” or “he, the person whether male or female, who utters, declares and proclaims deceptions, disappointments, falsehood and wrongs” “shall not tarry” which means “will in no manner or way be firm, established, stable and secure” “in my sight” or “within my, David’s, vision, regard or mental and spiritual faculties”. David said the person who speaks falsehoods and wrongs would not abide within his vision or mental and spiritual faculties.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David did not want to keep company with people who are deceptive and liars. God said, “you shall not bear false witness” (See Exodus 20:16), and anyone who violates God’s law is a sinner. God knew we have sin in our lives, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins and mistakes of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from those who practice deception and falsehoods.

Next time David shares about, “I will early destroy all the wicked of the land”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
